An Asset Map for Palau

An asset map is a tool that visualizes a community’s resources as they are specifically identified and mapped geographically. My goal in asset mapping Palau is therefore to provide easy access to understanding more about the different resources that Palau has to offer. My map includes several layers, each of which corresponds to one of the essays that I have written on Palau: air pollution/climate, agriculture, food, and nutrition, energy & transportation, natural resources, and waste & garbage. I included a layer with assets related to drinking water & water resources, too, although I did not write an essay on this topic. In each layer, I have mapped the assets within Palau associated with each topic. I created my map with the intention of giving a more holistic depiction of Palau’s strengths, as well as provoking thoughts as to how the resources I mapped can be built upon to further address Palau’s needs.
